As a child, my confidence in the advice given by fortune-tellers at fairs was so limited that I refused to visit these ladies. So, it is with mixed feelings that I write about the future of cosmetic testing in 2000 and beyond. After all, I could be the fortune-teller at the Vanity Fair of Cosmetics!
But in contrast to fortune-tellers, who used only their vivid imaginations, as far as I am concerned, I am basing my predictions on three different souces. My first source is the cosmetic scientific literature; second, some trend spotting from attending trade fairs; and lastly, technology forecasting borrowed from some of the newer technologies used in the pharmaceutical industry.
