The antioxidant activity of trans-resveratrol is correspondingly reduced. However, in the presence of ethylhexyl methoxycrylene, a photostabilizer used in sunscreens, the effects of UV exposure on trans-resveratrol are minimized, thereby preserving its antioxidant activity and, presumably, its bioavailability.
