Colonial Chemical embraced the marriage of texture and sustainability this spring. The following ingredient launches can be used to create luxe formulations and enhance skin's natural texture, while maintaining a sustainable supply chain and manufacturing processes.

They include:

ColaTeric HBS—Derived from hemp seed oil, this ingredient can reportedly replace traditional alkanolamides in cleansing applications; helps build viscosity in a variety of surfactant systems; and leaves a luxurious skin feel. It is PEG-free and can be used in applications including facial cleansers, sulfate-free systems, shampoos, bath gels and soap-based liquid cleansers. The raw material is grown in soils typically challenging for traditional seed crops and is sustainably harvested. (Proposed INCI: Hempseedamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine)

ColaTeric CHGL—For luxe cleansing products, this ingredient is meant to boost foam and stabilization with an enhanced viscosity. It is said to be easy-to-handle and contributes to product preservation. The ingredient may also assist with sustainable formulating, as it is a cold-process additive. (INCI: Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine and Glyceryl Laurate)

ColaTeric BBS—This mild surfactant is preservative-free and reportedly works to create a better foam, feel and viscosity compared to standard coconut ior palm kernel products. Based on babassu oil, the raw material sustainably grown and harvested in Brazil. Along with cleansing applications such as shampoos, body washes and facial cleansers, the ingredient can be utilized in formulations with a high bio-based content. (Proposed INCI: Babassuamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine)

ColaLipid GS—A strong antioxidant, this oil mimics the body's natural phospholipids—which help provide moisturizing, solubilizing and emulsifying benefits—and helps deposit its essential fatty acids on skin. It is derived from sustainable grapeseed oil for use in skin, health and hair care applications; baby products; color cosmetics including foundation and lipsticks; and pre- and -post-sun care. (INCI: Sodium Grapeseed Amidopropyl PG-Dimonium Choride Phosphate)
