The Davines Group, known for its professional cosmetics with the Davines brand for haircare and the [ comfort zone ] brand for skincare, a B Corp since 2016, continues to support plastic waste collection initiatives in 2024 through its partnership with Plastic Bank. Since 2021, support for Plastic Bank has enabled the collection of more than 2,568 tons of plastic waste from the environment in Brazil, the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand, including 866 tons in 2024.

Plastic waste has not only been removed from the environment, preventing it from polluting oceans and landfills, but it has also been recycled and reintegrated into a circular supply chain. This initiative enables communities in vulnerable areas to earn a supplemental income while contributing to sustainability. Over the past four years, thanks to the collaboration between the Davines Group and Plastic Bank, more than 5,000 individuals and their families have benefited from these efforts.

"We've always believed that in order to make our business model truly regenerative, it is necessary to implement a holistic approach that focuses on multiple impact areas, particularly on our four pillars: decarbonization, circularity, biodiversity and water. The crucial contribution our Research & Innovation department can make in the study and creation of packaging with reduced environmental impact must necessarily be accompanied by projects such as the one in collaboration with Plastic Bank, which allows us to support the removal from the environment of an equivalent amount of plastic generated by the sales of our products. This is an important part of our concrete commitment, even beyond our value chain," comments Davide Bollati, Chairman of the Davines Group.

The Davines Group follows eco-design principles to reduce the impact of packaging within its value chain, in all stages over which it has direct control. However, it is aware that packaging also involves many challenges outside the value chain, particularly when it is not properly disposed of and recycled; therefore, it ends up in the environment. The partnership with Plastic Bank enables the Group to support the annual collection of the equivalent amount of plastic from the environment as the plastic used in the sales of its products with plastic packaging.

Reducing individual environmental impact is a cornerstone of sustainability discussions. The Davines Group, through its 2030 environmental sustainability strategy, "Davines Group Towards Planet Regeneration," has set bold objectives with a strong focus on circularity. This principle will shape its research, development and innovation priorities in the years ahead. By 2030, the company aims to limit virgin fossil plastic to no more than 10% of the total weight of plastic used in all levels of packaging — primary, secondary and tertiary. Furthermore, by the same year, all aluminum, paper and cardboard used in product packaging will be made entirely from recycled materials.

The collection of plastic waste from the environment is one of the initiatives through which the Davines Group reinforces its commitment to a model of regenerative growth, circular consumption and protection of ecosystems. With this in mind, among the goals set in its 2030 environmental strategy, the company has set a target to collect 5,000 tons of plastic waste from the environment from 2023 onward, outside its value chain.
