EMSA Esencias Moles, a company specialized in essences and fragrances, unveiled HEVen Light Shield during In-cosmetics Asia 2025, held Nov. 4–6 in Bangkok. The technology is designed to protect the skin from blue light emitted by digital screens. In addition, the company presented the return of gourmand with cocktail-inspired scents.
Functionalized Fragrance to Protect S. Epidermidis
HEVen Light Shield (INCI: Not Provided) is a patent-pending technology that enables the functionalization of perfumes using fragrance-based actives that are capable of absorbing high-energy visible (HEV) light in the 400 – 500 nm range, the company explains.
Through rigorous research and development, EMSA’s studies confirm that HEVen Light Shield, at concentrations as low as 0.05%:
- provides > 99% absorption of blue light, effectively shielding the skin from potential photodamage, and
- protects Staphylococcus epidermidis, a key bacterium for the skin’s natural defenses, by minimizing photodamage.
According to the company, this dual-function technology not only delivers robust HEV light defense, but also adds sensorial value, allowing formulators to create products that combine effective skin protection with the benefits of an appealing fragrance.
Blue Laser Demonstration
To illustrate the protective power of HEVen Light Shield, EMSA created a makeup-fixing mist for a visual demonstration during In-cosmetics Asia. When a blue laser light was shone through two variations of the mist — one with and one without the ingredient — only the formula containing HEVen Light Shield blocked the blue light nearly entirely.
“HEVen Light Shield offers effective protection against blue light from screens, opening up new possibilities for brands to develop ‘two-in-one’ products that are both pleasant and protective,” said Alex Moles, CEO and third-generation leader of EMSA Esencias Moles.
Mojito, Sex on the Beach and More: Immersive Gourmand Experience
In addition to HEVen Light Shield, EMSA celebrated the return of gourmand fragrances at In-cosmetics Asia 2025. The company debuted a collection of scents inspired by four iconic cocktails — mojito (green), piña colada (yellow), blue lagoon (blue) and sex on the beach (red).
Designed for an immersive sensory experience, each fragrance was paired with a color and emotion, and was made available in body mists, reed diffusers and candles.
By introducing these pioneering solutions, EMSA strengthens its position as a leader in technical and creative innovation, supporting both comprehensive skin protection and sensory delight.
