Sonneborn, an HF Sinclair brand focused on specialty ingredients, has announced the expansion of its sustainable product portfolio with new bio-based and hybrid solutions to replace cyclic siloxanes and improve formula customization.
Bio-based SonneNatural Fluidity 40P to Replace D4, D5 and D6
Sonneborn’s latest offering, SonneNatural Fluidity 40P (INCI: C15-19 Alkane), includes 100% bio-based replacements for cyclic siloxanes (D4, D5, D6) that reportedly provide a significantly lower cradle-to-gate carbon footprint.
Described as readily biodegradable, odorless and GMO-free, these solutions are suggested for applications in sun care, skin care, hair care and makeup. According to the company, the products are designed to replace low-viscosity oils, offering a sustainable alternative without compromising performance.
Hybrid SonneNatural Synergy 150P for Formulating Flexibility
In addition, Sonneborn expanded its hybrid SonneNatural Synergy range to enable development teams to customize formulations to meet specific performance and market needs.
For example, its new addition, SonneNatural Synergy 150P, is a mixture of 100% bio-based renewable white alkane and white mineral oil that meets the purity requirements for NF, BP/Ph. Eur. (current revision), as well as U.S. Food and Drug Administration requirements as per 21 CFR 172.878 and 21 CFR 178.3620(a).
The versatile product contains approximately 40% bio-based content and, like the entire Synergy line, is applicable in:
creams and lotions,
various forms of makeup,
hair care products,
sunscreen and sun care
and depilatories.
According to the company, hybrid solutions combining conventional components with renewable white alkanes allows formulators to increase renewable content and meet specifications while retaining the trusted performance of a conventional ingredient, ensuring a seamless progression toward improved sustainability with minimal formula modification. This ensures that Sonneborn’s solutions remain adaptable to evolving consumer demands and regulatory requirements.
