
Specialty ingredient company Seppic published new efficacy data related to two of its flagship active ingredients, Celtosome Crithmum Maritimum and Celtosome Eryngium Maritimum. This data enhances the understanding of the ingredients’ mechanism of action and precisely measures the ideal exosome concentration.
Seppic’s Celtosome ingredients are derived from marine plants and use plant cell biotechnology to extract the actives. Celtosome Crithmum Maritimum is derived from sea fennel and improves radiance and hydration, and Celtosome Eryngium Maritimum is derived from a protected halophyte plant and gives anti-aging benefits.
According to the company’s press release, at a recommended use level of 0.05%, Celtosome Eryngium delivers 720 million exosomes per gram of formulation. The ingredient demonstrated a 103% increase in dermal hyaluronic acid, a 34% stimulation of collagen I synthesis in fibroblasts and a 34% increase in elastin. Further, The study showed a 12% reduction in the surface area of crow’s feet wrinkles after 28 days of application. Celtosome Crithmum Maritimum showed similar efficacy, delivering 1.44 billion exosomes per gram of cream at a use level of 0.1%.
The company hopes that this new data will show the benefits of exosomes and meet consumer demand for science-backed skincare.
