The Stage/Gate Process
Invention is the solution to a problem. Innovation is the process of taking the invention, or any idea, to a commercially sucessful conclusion. Technology transfer is the bridge between invention and innovation. Therefore, the technology transfer process is more than just finding and acquiring a desired technology. It also involves the developmetn of that technology to a commercial product or process.
