New Brightening Active from Lipotec Evens Skin Tone

Lipotec has added Brighlette marine ingredient (INCI: Butylene Glycol (and) Water (and) Plankton Extract), a brightening active designed to even the skin tone for a fair and radiant complexion. The substance protects the skin from UV radiation and also determines the tone and luminosity of the skin. The ingredient acts on the various stages of melanogenesis for integral and effective control of pigmentation. It regulates gene expression of melanogenic signaling proteins to decrease the formation and maturation of melanosomes, reduces tyrosinase levels and activity, and diminishes melanin uptake by keratinocytes. At the same time, it induces the expression of genes involved in DNA repair, necessary due to the loss of UV-protective pigment. This multiple-component approach to decreasing melanin content is said to allow the ingredient to reduce the size and contrast of dark spots and increase the brightness of the skin.
