CLR Berlin Corrects C. Acne with CutiBiome CLR

CutiBiome_CLR850

During in-cosmetics Global 2020, CLR Berlin will present CutiBiome CLR (INCI: Octyldodecanol (and) Leptospermum scoparium branch/leaf oil (and) Piper nigrum fruit extract (and) Magnolia officinalis bark extract) to benefit the skin and scalp microbiota, specifically Cutibacterium acnes.

CutiBiome CLR was developed to balance the skin’s microbiota for consumers who have skin conditions caused by Cutibacterium acnes. While C. acnes is a commensal species and certain genetic variants, e.g., phylotype I-A1, are important for the skin, C. acnes can also cause problems. CutiBiome CLR prevents film-forming activity while inhibiting the growth of C. acnes I-A1. These effects reduce sebum, comedones, pustules and pimples, as shown instrumentally and in volunteers.

Other in vivo studies for hair care showed a reduction in dandruff. For four weeks, the ingredient was used three times weekly in a hair tonic. Results indicated similar efficacy to piroctone olamine, the standard used to treat fungal infections and dandruff, and greater efficacy than the standard for reducing scalp oiliness, sensitivity and itch.
