On August 14, 2026, ingredient supplier Sino Lion USA announced the publication of its latest research in the peer-reviewed journal ACS Omega. The research sheds light on the potential of topical menaquinone-7 (Vitamin K2, MK-7) as a next-generation mitochondrial bioenergetic activator for anti-aging. The company believes that this ingredient, commercially available as BIOESSENCE K2 MK-7 will shift the focus from traditional anti-aging methods to fundamental cellular health.
According to the company’s press release, BIOESSENCE K2 MK-7 works to re-energize the dermal matrix from within and interrupt mitochondrial decline associated with aging. The ingredient can be used in neck firming creams, jawline contouring serums and advanced longevity moisturizers.
The researchers tested MK-7 in laboratory models under severe UVA and oxidative stress conditions. According to the results of the study, the ingredient demonstrated dose-dependent stimulation of ATP synthesis and doubled the NAD+/NADH ratio under oxidative stress. Further, the results showed enhanced respiratory chain complex activities and down-regulation of key inflammatory and senescence phenotype markers.
In an eight-week clinical trial, a cream with 0.05% MK-7 showed a significant reduction in roughness on the face and neck, an 8.6% reduction in maximum wrinkle height, improvements in distensibility and a “visually quantifiable” improvement in the mandibular plane angle.
“This publication represents a monumental milestone for Sino Lion USA and the broader cosmetic industry,” said Dr. Evelyn Su, founder, president and chief executive officer of Sino Lion USA. “We are incredibly proud to supply BIOESSENCE K2 MK-7, an ingredient that bridges the gap between deep mitochondrial biology and highly visible clinical results. This research equips our global partners with a clinically validated, next-generation active to meet the rapidly growing consumer demand for true longevity skincare and cellular-level rejuvenation.”
