
Swedish precision fermentation company Melt&Marble announced the commercial launch of Marble7, a bioactive lipid ingredient for the personal care market. The ingredient debuted at in-cosmetics Korea and is designed for use in skincare, makeup and hair care applications.
According to the company’s press release, Marble7 (INCI: r-Saccharomyces butter) offers a biomimetic skin lipid profile. The ingredient provides structure, stability and sensorial performance for formulators, making it an idea candidate for multi-category applications.
“Marble7 is our first commercial product for personal care and an important step in bringing precision-fermented designer lipids into real formulation use,” said chief business officer Thomas Cresswell. “For formulators, the opportunity is not only to replace existing lipid ingredients, but to access next-generation ingredients designed with specific performance, sensory and supply-chain needs in mind.”
The assist in the company’s entry to the beauty and personal care market, Melt&Marble entered into a collaboration with digital ingredient discovery platform Covalo. Company officials hope this will enhance product visibility and simplify access to technical documentation, formulation concepts and samples.
