Abstract: KeraGuard is Mibelle Biochemistry’s latest ingredient, which was proven with ex vivo tests to help protect hair against environmental and chemical stress, while also repairing it to be healthy and shiny.

Mibelle Biochemistry launched KeraGuard (INCI: Caesalpinia Spinosa Fruit Pod Extract (and) Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Sprout Extract (and) Propylene Glycol (and) Phenoxyethanol (and) Sodium Benzoate (and) Water (aqua)) to help protect and repair hair.

KeraGuard was designed to counter harmful effects on the hair such as environmental stress like UV and pollution and chemical stress like coloring and straightening, while also repairing hair to make it healthy and radiant.

Ex vivo studies proved at 0.5% the active protects dyed hair from color fading, in addition to reducing heat damage on hair cuticle scales. Additionally, the ingredient can be utilized in leave-on and rinse-off formulations.

The ingredient consists of tara tannins, which are highly potent antioxidants and radical scavengers, naturally binding to the protein structure of the hair. In addition to the tara tannins, this active also contains compounds of sunflower sprouts and together, they are able to neutralize all the negative daily effects on hair.
