Silab Releases New Efficacy Data for LIFTILIENCE for Textured Hair

Silab Liftilience Hair Care

Ingredient  company Silab published new efficacy data for its natural active ingredient LIFTILIENCE (INCI: Castanea sativa seed extract (and) Water), a phytopolymer designed to improve the definition of natural curls. The ingredient is derived from chestnuts and is composed of functionalized helical biopolymers obtained through the company’s novel technology.

LIFTILIENCE has already been recognized as a film-forming ingredient in skin care, providing enhanced complexion radiance and improved skin softness. The ingredient’s triple action, combining film-forming, retraction power and adhesion capacity, now demonstrate high potential for textured hair formulations.

“A true beautifying care product for textured hair, LIFTILIENCE immediately improves the definition of curls, and this effect is maintained all day long,” the company states on its website. “When using this active ingredient, the appearance of frizzy hair is limited and curls are reshaped, supple and shiny.”

According to the company’s press release, a preliminary study on naturally curly hair demonstrated an immediate improvement in the definition of curls, and the effect remained up to eight hours after application. Further, in ex vivo locks, the active ingredient reduced the surface of frizzy hair by 30%.

In a study with volunteers, 68% of participants reported a limited appearance of frizzy hair up to eight hours after application, and 91% said that hair gloss persisted throughout the day. LIFTILIENCE received a mean score of 8.0/10 in the consumer study.

Silab suggests using LIFTILIENCE at a dose of 0.08-0.16%, and the ingredient is available as a preservative-free powder.
