Hydration Regulation: Hibiscus sabdariffa Osmolyte for Barrier Moisture Control

An organically grown Australian variety of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. was studied in a new strategy to increase water uptake and limit water loss in challenged skin. Naturally rich in betaine, the floral calyx extract was tested for its effects in the skin’s osmolyte strategy, in support of skin hydration and barrier function.
