Extracting Plants Using Supercritical Glycerin

A recent article in Chemical Engineering describes one inventor's approach to naturals extraction based on supercritical glycerin. This reportedly renders a less viscous product than CO2 extraction, making it easier to handle.

Demetri Hopkins is the mind behind the approach and he has licensed the idea exclusively to ECO Innovation Group Inc., an incubator platform. Reportedly, a prototype is in development by high-pressure equipment specialist Fluitron Inc.

As Hopkins explained, this technique provides for standardized concentrations of extracted target compounds. CBD, THC and other actives from Cannabis sativa are said to be the team's initial targets.
