Sneak Preview: Judges' Feedback
I believe that, in addition to the winners, all of the entries can open up a new era of cosmetics."
Our esteemed panel of judges has been hard at work, diving into the pioneering entries submitted this year. Their feedback highlights the creativity and scientific ingenuity shaping the future of cosmetics and personal care.
"This year, the innovation category was extremely competitive," wrote Tomonobu Ezure, Ph.D., of Shiseido. "All of the entries offered groundbreaking cosmetic concepts and solutions from a variety of viewpoints. I believe that, in addition to the winners, all of the entries can open up a new era of cosmetics."
Gabriela Daniels, of the University of the Arts London and Society of Cosmetic Scientists UK, shared: "The cosmetic innovations I had the privilege to review represented a range of material advances, testing instrumentation and methods, and formulation-aiding platforms [supported by] well-researched and thoughtfully constructed frameworks and data.
"With such tools available, cosmetic innovation is not only accelerated, but these tools themselves are capable of evolving and innovating to adapt to advancing science and shifting consumer-driven trends," she continued.
There is outstanding innovation in the production, delivery and efficacy of growth factors, as well as unique and very efficacious combinations of ingredients for the superior efficacy of finished formulations."
Cosmetic actives expert and consultant Mindy Goldstein, Ph.D., remarked: "As with past years, innovation and uniqueness abounds in this year’s submissions. There is outstanding innovation in the production, delivery and efficacy of growth factors, as well as unique and very efficacious combinations of ingredients for the superior efficacy of finished formulations. It will be very exciting to see who wins the Allē Award in each category."
Kelly Dobos, consulting cosmetic chemist and professor at the University of Cincinnati, shared, "While judging this year’s beauty award submissions, it was exciting to see how ingredient suppliers are pushing innovation in smarter, more sustainable ways.
"Standout technologies included bio‑derived ingredients with multifunctional benefits, next‑generation sensory modifiers that elevate feel without compromise, and formulation aids designed to simplify product development while meeting rising consumer expectations for naturality and performance. Together, these advancements point to clear industry trends: renewable feedstocks, elevated aesthetics and more efficient delivery of skin‑beneficial properties."
And Nattaya Lourith, Ph.D., of Mae Fah Luang University, noted, "What I have been seeing from the entries are innovative approaches focused on natural and biotech beauty, with scientific evidence declaring safety, efficacy and delivery."
