INOLEX has introduced a new ingredient for sun care products: LexFilm Sun Natural (INCI: Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer), an all-natural film former.
LexFilm Sun Natural is a pourable viscous fluid—as opposed to a crystalline solid—for optimal manufacturing and formulation, and making for more even coverage.
Produced using the principles of green chemistry, the plant-based, multi-dimensional polymer can be used in skin care, hair care and color cosmetics.

Derived from renewable and sustainable building blocks, the ingredient is currently in the process of receiving Ecocert, Cosmos, Natrue and NSF certifications.
“As sun protection becomes an integral part of the consumers’ daily skin, makeup and hair routine, the need for long-lasting film formers with superior functionality and aesthetics is rising,” said INOLEX technical marketing manager Fana Makonnen. “LexFilm Sun Natural provides this performance in an all-natural ingredient—which makes it an exciting option for formulators trying to balance these objectives.”
