Natural Sourcing introduced its Cupuacu Butter (INCI: Theobroma Grandiflorum (Cupuacu) Butter), a hydrating ingredient that can be used as a vegan alternative in skin, lip, hair or nail care, cosmetics and aromatherapy.

In hair care, the butter provides shine, nourishment and hydration. In the same vein, skin care formulations that include the butter can be targeted for severely dry, mature and problem skin in need of hydration.

The butter has a soft and creamy texture and has a mild aroma. It can be used to stabilize emulsions, and can reportedly hold up to four times its weight in water before separating.

According to the company, the butter may be used as a lanolin alternative, as it does not carry the latter’s risk of skin sensitization. The ingredient itself contains plant sterols and is rich in fatty acids, including oleic, lauric and stearic acids.
