Emulium Illustro (INCI: Polyglyceryl-6 Polyhydroxystearate (and) Polyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate) is a natural w/o emulsifier designed principally for pigmented formulations. In color cosmetics, it can reportedly enable high coverage with a natural or glowing finish, along with long wear. The ingredient can also be utilized to provide novel textures that range from fluid to thick in skin and sun care; applications include foundations, highlighters, lipsticks, eye products and organic and inorganic sunscreens.

In consumer testing, panelists who habitually use silicone foundations responded well to both the performance of a natural foundation formulated with Emulium Illustro, along with the appearance of their skin after use.

Based on polyglycerol esters, the ingredient is reportedly flexible, stable, easy-to-use and suitable for cold processing. Gattefossé recommends use at 3-5%.

Emulium Illustro will officially launch at in-cosmetics Global in Paris, to be held from April 2-4, 2019. Gattefossé can be visited at stand H80.
