The Procter & Gamble Company discloses antimicrobial cleansing compositions which are milt to skin and used with a dispensing article. Antimicribial cleansing compositions have a pH of 2.0-5.5 and comprise 0.001-5% of an antimicrobial agent, 0.01-20% of 2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid as a proton donating agent. The fluid applied to a typical cleansing wipe (polyester rayon nonwoven substrate ) is shown in Formula 1.
