This invention relates to a composition for inhibiting cellular senescence that contains a Melandrium firmum Rohrbach extract or (-)-bornesitol derived from it. According to the inventors, applications include treating skin aging, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, arteriosclerosis, prostatic hyperplasia, liver cancer, etc.
The invention also is expected to be used to develop anti-aging functional foods, anti-vascular aging drugs, and cosmetics that may inhibit cellular senescence. Additional details were not disclosed.
