Pamela Anderson Without Makeup

Searches on "Pamela Anderson without makeup" are up 1,900%, per Google Trends, which likely relates to her recent Fashion Awards appearance bare-faced on the red carpet. This is not the first sans-makeup story we're read about Anderson. She moved in this direction after the unfortunate passing of her friend and makeup artist Alexis Vogel in 2019. According to the recent reports, Anderson feels it is freeing to not wear makeup and it makes her feel like a rebel. Woman's Health described her no-makeup look as "glowing," which underscores something our industry has witnessed in recent years: the consumer's larger emphasis on skin health as a reflection of beauty.

Armenian Makeup

"Armenian makeup" is up 600% in Google Trends searches. We found one recent news report that could relate and it is connected to Anderson's no-makeup move. Following the Fashion Awards coverage, Good Day L.A. anchor Araksya Karapetyan, an Armenian woman, removed her makeup live on the show as a sort of nod to Anderson. Several other artists have recently stripped away their cosmetic layers, too; Sofia Vergara is another recent example.

In searching for actual Armenian makeup, we found several media social posts depicting glammy, bold looks with dramatic eyes and heavily emphasized brows. One notable Pinterest post featured the "Top 10 Hrush Archemyan Makeup Ideas." Archemyan is an Armenian-American makeup artist to the stars including the Kardashians and Jenners. The makeup ideas featured ways to re-create Archemyan's looks, from accenting the brows to contouring makeup.

Bys Cosmetics

Searches on "Bys Cosmetics" are up 250% this week, per Google Trends. This Aussie brand has a recent TikTok post touting its products with ingredients to get "delicious" skin. An Instagram post by the company is currently featuring a pore-blurring primer balm (interesting format), highlighting its bisabolol and chamomile ingredients for soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. Another post debuted a sensorially captivating lip duo: Hot Lips Plumping Gloss, which imparts a warming sensation, and Cold Kiss Gloss, which cools the lips.

Nuki Cosmetics

"Nuki Cosmetics" searches also rose 250% in the past week. This Georgia-based (the country) brand has been around for a couple years, initially promoting a long-wear, mask-proof lipstick. The company's latest post on TikTok features a "candy-tinted lip moisturizer balm" in stick form that twists open like a lipstick bullet to deliver balm-like properties. The bullet has a diamond plated-style imprint on it, giving it interesting visual appeal.

Plump Primer

This week's Exploding Topic is "plump primer." You use it under your makeup, like a regular primer, but it is said to give your skin a plump look while extending makeup wear. Per the source, videos on "plump primer" have reached some 2.7 billion views on TikTok. Interest in this product was attributed to the Nyx brand, whose plump primer sales average $31K/month on Amazon. Searches on "Nyx plump primer" have climbed 2,800% over the past five years.

#FibroblastTherapy and #DirtyLashes

Finally, according to Spate's TikTok hashtag tracker, in the past week, the hashtag #fibroblasttherapy surged by 47,866,600%. We searched on this treatment and found it relates to the use of a plasma beam-powered device to target the fibroblasts and reduce excess skin and tighten it. Spate's tracker also found #dirtylashes grew by 28,100,500%, which appears to relate to ways of cleansing false lashes or extensions.
