How might consumer/patient preferences affect the process of a disease such as psoriasis? Neal Bhatia, M.D., associate clinical professor at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and private practitioner at Therapeutics Dermatology, explored just that in a patient survey of the CeraVe product line presented at the 2018 AAD meeting.

"[Regarding this survey], we looked at patient preference and how it might affect the process of their disease," explained Bhatia. "I want the patient to get the right treatment program in place. That includes a lot of moisturizing and cleansing. What's unique about CeraVe's platform is the addition of ceramides, urea and salicylic acid—all the things that ... [are] going to have a lot of impact on the disease process."

This three-part podcast series is based on this study but additionally explores the differences in skin diseases, the industry's interest in the market for compromised skin, ingredient considerations and future studies.
