With the opening of a new laboratory at BASF’s Besigheim Site in Germany, the research and production of the company's colors and effect pigments are being located closer together.

"With the installation of this research laboratory in Besigheim, we are strengthening the rapid development of near-market innovations," said Alexander Haunschild, senior vice president of BASF's global pigment business. "Through the complete on-site support and the proximity of production and research, we support the development of our inorganic color pigments as well as the Paliocrom effect pigments."

Prior to the new laboratory opening, pigment research activities mainly took place in Ludwigshafen. Haunschild emphasized the importance of the laboratory for the future of the Besigheim site. "Following the expansion of capacity for bismuth vanadate and Paliocrom effect pigments, the laboratory opening also shows that we regularly invest in the Besigheim site."

The new research laboratory supports the production of pigments manufactured and marketed under BASF’s global brand, Colors & Effects.
