Democratizing Fragrance Creation and Unlocking Molecular Discovery
OsmoThe Shift from Trial-and-Error to Predictive, Personalized Design
Scaling AI-Driven Scent Innovation with Funding, Massive Data Platform and New Smart Factory
A few recent milestones illustrate how we’re building the future of scent.
- Earlier this year we closed a $70 million Series B funding round, bringing total capital raised to $130 million. That investment is helping us accelerate research and expand our olfactory technology platform.
- We’re continuing to scale our scientific and technical capabilities. Osmo has built the industry’s largest structured scent data library and is using Olfactory Intelligence to screen billions of molecules to predict how they will smell, perform and behave before any physical molecule is created.
- In addition, our collaboration with the Institute for In Vitro Sciences demonstrated how AI can transform safety testing for fragrance ingredients. The study showed that AI models trained on validated human-relevant lab data could generate safety insights that would have historically required large-scale animal testing.
- Finally, we are investing heavily in infrastructure to support that growth. In 2026, Osmo will open a 60,000-square-foot manufacturing headquarters in Elizabeth, New Jersey that integrates robotics, fragrance development and AI-powered manufacturing. That facility will allow us to scale from concept to production more quickly and support a much broader ecosystem of partners.
Together, these efforts reflect our strategy of combining data, machine learning and human perfumery expertise to build a new foundation for fragrance creation.
AI Becomes Perfumery’s Power Tool, Expanding Creative Possibilities and Accelerating Discovery
We see AI as a tool for expanding what’s possible for fragrance and gives perfumers a new tool in their kit.
Fragrance creation involves a huge amount of experimentation and manual work. Olfactory Intelligence automates many of the repetitive and data-heavy tasks involved in fragrance development, which allows perfumers to spend more time on the creative aspects of their work.
AI also enables us to explore an enormous chemical space that would be impossible to navigate through traditional methods. By screening billions of molecules computationally, we can predict scent characteristics, safety and performance before synthesis. This dramatically increases the efficiency of discovery and opens the door to entirely new fragrance ingredients.
In that sense, AI functions more like a powerful creative tool—similar to how power tools transformed woodworking. It enhances the capabilities of perfumers rather than replacing them.
