Mibelle AG Biochemistry launched a neurocosmetic active, pinolumin (INCI: Pinus Cembra Wood Extract (and) Alcohol (and) Pentylene Glycol (and) Aqua / Water), which helps reduce skin irritation and inflammation.

Pinolumin is derived from the wood of Swiss stone pine, a tree growing at high altitudes for up to 1,200 years in the Alps and the Carpathian Mountains of Central Europe.

This tree contains a resveratrol-like molecule called pinosylvin, which has abilities to:

  • Neutralize free radicals
  • Block pain receptors present in the skin
  • Decrease inflammation through several biological pathways

Pain Receptors

Active pain receptors are consistent in irritated and sensitive skin, and can lead to itching, inflammation and an uneven appearance to the skin. However, pinosylvin benefits these receptors.

Pinolumin helps calm sensitive and irritated skin and slows down the function of pain receptor, TRPV1, which is over-activated in sensitive and stressed skin.

The ingredient reduces redness and age spots and creates a more even toned skin for a youthful appearance, while slowing the release of pro-inflammatory mediators. Skin collagen is also protected with this ingredient with the restraint of the UVA-induced production of MMP-1.
