Dakota Biotech LLC has launched the Live P.S. product collection that according to the company, contains dormant and encapsulated probiotics activated by touch to produce post-biotic metabolites and restore skin's balance.

The Live P.S. skin care collection is positioned for consumers with an active lifestyle to ensure their "skin care works as hard as [they] do." The three-step kit includes a cleanser, serum and moisturizer, all based on the same live probiotic technology.

The Recharge Probiotic Cleanser is said to help brighten and balance skin tone by gently exfoliating and stimulating natural detoxification processes. Recover Live Probiotic Serum is designed to help neutralize breakouts and speed post-breakout recovery while reducing hyperpigmentation and brightening skin tone. Finally, the Protect Daily Defense Moisturizer features prebiotic antioxidants to help firm and tighten skin, and calm redness and irritation while providing a naturally radiant glow.

All products are based on plant-based ingredients and a combination of prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics, reportedly to improve skin's immunity. This, in turn, helps to fight off pathogens, viruses and "bad" bacteria while retaining crucial vitamins and minerals.

Furthermore, as previously stated, the company's patented technology encapsulates the live probiotics in a dormant state, bypassing the need for refrigeration. According to the patent disclosure, this comprises an aqueous solution of crystalloids and colloids based on water insoluble polymers with the ability to de-swell upon electrical charge.

It also includes a plurality of oil droplets and a base solution, and a destabilizing solution incorporating a solvent, nitrogen, a natural acid (sufficient to produce a pH of ~3.0 to ~4.5), and a sufficient amount of a salt to contribute to an osmolality between about 190 mOsm/L and about 900 mOsm/L.

Lastly, the composition includes a plurality of microencapsulated probiotic beads accounting for ~0.01% to ~20% of the composition by weight. Upon contact with skin, the probiotics are released from the beads and become active, creating postbiotic metabolites that work synergistically with the skin’s microbiome by providing antimicrobial peptides while producing fatty acids, vitamins B and K, and amino acids, resulting in the improved health of the skin’s microbiome.
