BASF Colors & Effects has expanded its Chione Electric product range with Chione Electric Sunset SK90D (INCI: Synthetic Fluorphlogopite (and) Titanium Dioxide (and) Iron Oxides (and) Silica), a bold blue-rouge metallic-like effect pigment based on synthetic mica that delivers a bright hue for color cosmetics, skin care and personal care applications.

Chione Electric Sunset SK90D fulfills a new color space and offers a chroma that delivers bright hues with luminous to shimmering effects.

According to the company, Chione Electric Sunset was inspired by the dynamic colors when day turns into night, marking new beginnings filled with anticipation and energy.

“We are very excited to bring our latest innovation, Chione Electric Sunset, to the market,” said Diane Jansson, global business manager, effect pigments for cosmetics of BASF Colors & Effects. “With the growing trend for vegan and ‘clean’ beauty claims, Chione Electric Sunset offers a solution for customers who have been asking for very bold, red effect pigments that are also carmine-free.”

“Our scientists were able to expand the Chione Electric Fuchsia (INCI: Synthetic Fluorphlogopite (and) Titanium Dioxide (and) Iron Oxides (and) Silica) color space into new dimensions with Chione Electric Sunset,” noted Gabe Uzunian, head of development and expert services, cosmetic effect pigments at BASF Colors & Effects. “A red effect pigment with blue undertones, Chione Electric Sunset is composed solely of inorganic layers and exhibits high stability in all applications. A globally approved color additive, Chione Electric Sunset is ideally suited for formulations where a red color is desired without the addition of organic colorants.”

In addition, Colors & Effects announced the launch of Chione Galactic Gold S232U and Chione Astral White S130R (INCIs: Not Provided), the largest particle size effect pigments based on synthetic mica to the company’s portfolio.

Chione Galactic Gold is a metallic-like gold effect pigment while Chione Astral White stands as a bright, interference white effect pigments. Both products deliver ultra-glittering effects without the regulatory and environmental concerns of PET glitter in cosmetic and personal care applications.

Chione Galactic Gold and Chione Astral White contain globally approved color additives without any application limitations.
