Gatuline Skin Repair Af Inflammation Data Update
Gattefossé

In collaboration with Ambiotis, Gattefossé addresses inflammation by adding claims substantiation data for its ingredient, Gatuline Skin-Repair AF (INCI: Propanediol (and) Water (Aqua) (and) Onopordum Acanthium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract), in aged skin and related evidence supporting the synthesis of pro-resolving mediators. These results were published in Dermatology Research.

According to the company, by boosting the synthesis of specialized pro-resolving mediators, the ingredient prevents chronic inflammation-induced with age. The active also efficiently regenerates the skin, enhancing keratinocyte differentiation to ensure optimal recovery of the barrier function. Thanks to this effect, the return to cutaneous homeostasis in stressed or damaged skin is accelerated.

As part of its CSR policy, Gattefossé is committed to helping its partner in the development of durable agricultural practices for more sustainable products. Derived from locally sourced cotton thistle (Onopordum acanthium), the ingredient is an organic certified hydroglycolic extract. Its phytochemical signature, e.g., sesquiterpene lactones, caffeoylquinic acid derivatives, supports its high efficacy.

"Gatuline Skin-Repair AF offers a novel and promising strategy to fight inflammation,” said Laurie Canel, product marketing leader of active ingredients from Gattefossé. “By focusing on the final resolution of inflammation rather than decreasing it, chronic inflammatory skin disorders, especially those appearing with age, can be durably controlled. This active ingredient will be suitable for all facial or body care products supporting inflamed, damaged or sensitive skin.”
