Jarchem has added a green clay to its Jarxotic Naturescrubs line that provides absorption, adsorption and coverage to cosmetic formulations. Jarxotic GC-NS (INCI: Illite (and) Montmorillonite (and) Kaolinite) is extracted from volcanic earth found in France's Auvergne region. The deposits in this region provide a ratio of illite, montmorillonite and kaolinite clays not found elsewhere, according to the company.
This natural mix results in its excellent absorbtion, intermediate adsorption capacity and high coverage volume. French green clay has been used for years in agricultural, animal care, cosmetic and even folk medicine applications. Anecdotal evidence suggests antibacterial characteristics, and French green clay from this region has been used to promote rapid healing from applications of its paste to bug bites and stings.
The clay is supplied as a fine green to beige powder and is available in a range of controlled particle sizes, with a maximum size of 77 microns. In addition, the material is free of silica and fiber.
The clay is recommended for personal care products such as mouth washes, toothpastes, body washes, shampoos, mud baths, skin care lotions, moisture absorbent creams, face masks and scrubbing agents.
