Oat Cosmetics looked to fermentation for the recent launch of its Aurafirm (INCI: Lactobacillus Ferment (and) Avena Sativa Kernel Extract (and) Sodium Benzoate (and) Potassium Sorbate) ingredient range.

The range utilizes a stable strain of Lactobacillus, which biochemically breaks down colloidal oatmeal into simpler substances—making it easier to penetrate the stratum corneum. According to the company, the ingredients promote exfoliation via natural AHAs, microbiome recovery and skin plumping.

All three of the range’s actives include varying levels of the same components. They include:

  • Aurafirm P—Fermented cream, for face or body masks, emulsions, rinse-off products and exfoliators;
  • Aurafirm N—Suspended sediment in liquid, used in skin care applications such as eye care, creams, lotions and nail and cuticle care, along with shampoos and conditioners; and
  • Aurafirm S—Clear liquid, meant for higher end skin care, including toners, gels, essences, ampoules, serums and lotions.

Aurafirm launched at in-cosmetics Global in Amsterdam from April 17–19, 2018.
