A water based foaming cleansing wash, the surfactant system contains mild surfactant mix of cocamidopropyl betaine*, sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate and lauryl glucoside. Styrene/acrylates copolymer and tetrasodium glutamate diacetate act as an opacifier and chelating agent, respectively. Sodium chloride thickens the surfactant system, while citric acid and sodium hydroxide regulate pH.
The active ingredients include glycerin, a humectant, and lactic acid, which helps gently cleanse and exfoliate with its skin hydrating and keratolytic properties. Alpha-glucan oligosaccharide allows for the prebiotic skin protectant claim, reducing skin redness and irritation, calming and soothing the skin. Inulin, a fructose-based polymer, acts as a humectant, improves the foam texture and conditions the skin. Arginine also helps with skin conditioning. The formula contains fragrance and is preserved by sorbic acid and sodium benzoate.
In my view, the ingredients in the cleanser formula support its claims of a mild foaming, cleansing function that maintains physiological skin pH and with hydrating properties. More research into the benefits of prebiotics in washable cleansers is required.
