Silab’s Care for Males With No Hair


French cosmetic active company Silab is addressing male baldness with Hairgenyl (INCI: Yeast Extract), an anti-hair loss active ingredient that is rich in biopeptides, supports the biological activity of the dermal papilla and stimulates hair follicle growth. The company is being represented by Cornelius, an independent European distributor of ingredients.

According to Euromonitor, males in the age range of 45-49 report hair loss concerns. However, 10-20% of male consumers among all generations have a concern for balding.

“Balding is a key concern for some men across all age groups,” said Rachael Atwell, business development manager at Cornelius. “It can be argued that there isn’t a cure for hair loss, with no simple fix, but Hairgenyl is a technologically advanced solution that is proven to promote the regrowth of the hair.”

According to various tests, the preservative-free powder acts on androgenetic alopecia by correcting the abnormal expression of both signaling molecules and epigenetics. Additional effects include an increase in mitochondrial fusion, which boosts the capacity for energy production used for growth of the hair follicle.

“Hair care innovations are becoming more successful in better targeting specific hair concerns,” said Atwell. “Hair loss treatments are increasingly being demanded as consumers seek products with the functional claim of improving hair growth. This product has shown to improve efficacy on cells and tissue, which helps to re-normalize hair development.”

Additional tests performed over an eight-month period on male volunteers showed a 24.9% increase in hair density, 112.7% increase in hair growth, and 34% decrease in hair loss.
