BASF has recently expanded its EcoBalanced portfolio in North America, introducing its first EcoBalanced products for personal care. Their cocoamidopropyl betaine products, Dehyton PK 45 and Dehyton KE UP, have been certified as EcoBalanced using a biomass balance approach. This ensures a reduced carbon footprint by substituting fossil-based raw materials with certified renewable resources. The EcoBalanced grades will be available in early 2025.

In addition, BASF has also transitioned six of its U.S. Care Chemicals production sites to be powered entirely by renewable electricity from solar and wind sources. The company claims that this change will result in an annual CO2 savings of approximately 33,000 tons. These moves align with BASF's sustainability goals, which include a 25 percent reduction in Scope 2 emissions by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. BASF's actions exemplify its commitment to combining economic success with environmental protection and social responsibility.
