According to Mintel, users of skin care products think that fatigue is the primary facial skin stressor. Beauty and personal care brands can respond to this by increasing the use of energizing claims in products.

IFF has launched Genencare OSMS MI (INCI: Inositol), a highly purified myo-inositol and natural osmolyte that can support claims for products that energize skin. According to Mintel, skin care consumers think fatigue is a primary facial skin stressor; the active therefore addresses this concern.

As an isomer of glucose, IFF explains, inositol helps to stimulate metabolism by increasing energy content, oxygen consumption and protein production to reinforce the dermis matrix. Healthy fibroblasts, in turn, are key to proper dermis structure and function. Through these mechanisms, Genencare OSMS MI also improves skin elasticity.

The ingredient has been certified as upcycled through the Upcycled Food Association.
