Hair care sensory agents
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/138210
Publication date: Sept. 17, 2015
Assignee: Dow Global Technologies LLC, and Rohm and Haas Co.

According to these inventors, prior hair care art has already developed sensory agents such as silicone oils, hard particles, e.g., polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) particles and polyethylene (PE) particles, and silicone elastomer gels. However, each of these is associated with certain drawbacks including insufficient sensory performance; poor conditioning, stability and texture; or relatively high cost.

As an alternative, provided herein are hair care compositions comprising: a) a polyolefin oil blend including one or more metallocene catalyzed polyolefins i) with a density above 0.90 g/cm3 and ii) with a density equal to or below 0.90 g/cm3, along with iii) a cosmetically acceptable hydrocarbon oil; (b) a thickener; and c) a humectant. The high and low density polyolefins have an average melt index greater than 7, and the polyolefin blend is present in a range of from 0.1% to 1.4% w/w of the composition. Notably, the composition is substantially free from ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer.
