The present invention relates to the use of nicotinic acid adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NAADP), or a derivative thereof, for promoting the differentiation of keratinocytes into fibroblasts. Disclosed are pharmaceuticals or cosmetics containing NAADP for regenerating and improving the skin barrier, or preventing, improving or treating stratum corneum disorders, such as psoriasis or atopy. Specifically, the present inventors found that NAADP promotes intracellular calcium release as calcium signaling molecules in the keratinocytes, and has an effect of increasing expression of involucrin, keratin 1 and keratin 10—differentiation markers of the keratinocytes.

Arginine heteromers for improved skin penetration

Diclosed herein are arginine heteromers, which have an improved ability to penetrate and provide beneficial effects for the health and appearance of skin. According to the inventors, topically applying arginine chemically bound to a second (non-oligoarginine) compound increases its transepithelial delivery through a combination of increased solubility and flux across the skin. The described arginine heteromers can add other complementary or beneficial properties beyond those that are arginine-related.

This invention describes saturated hydrocarbons that are suitable as oil bodies for cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions; in particular, they exhibit no intrinsic odor. It surprisingly has been found that an isoalkane mixture with an average degree of branching provides such a benefit. The invention specifies an isoalkane mixture whose 1H NMR spectrum in the region of a chemical shift δ of from 0.6 to 1.0 ppm, based on tetramethylsilane; and preferably has a surface integral of from 35 to 55%, based on the total integral surface.

Disclosed in this patent are aqueous skin or hair preparations that include at least one polymer, in copolymerized form; at least one ester of (meth)acrylic acid; at least one olefinically unsaturated, free-radically polymerizable anionogenic or anionic compound; at least one free-radically polymerizable, olefinically unsaturated, urethane-group-containing compound without silicone groups; and, if appropriate, further free-radically polymerizable compounds. One object of the present invention was to provide polymers for skin or hair preparations that can readily be formulated as pump or aerosol spray in solvents or solvent mixtures with an increased water fraction, whose formulations form small uniform droplets and, during and after application, have the lowest possible tendency for foaming. Additionally, the films formed should not be sticky and should have good mechanical properties.
