It has been found that a limulus-positive glycolipid is present in xanthan gum derived from Xanthomonas, which has been commercially available and eaten for many years, and this was purified, and it has been found that this limulus-positive glycolipid has an immunopotentiation effect.
A method for safely and inexpensively producing the limulus-positive glycolipid containing an immunopotentiator at high concentrations is provided. The method for producing the limulus-positive glycolipid of the present invention comprises extracting the limulus-positive glycolipid from xanthan gum. A limulus-positive glycolipid composition containing the limulus-positive glycolipid can be used for various applications such as pharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals for animals, quasi drugs, cosmetics, foods, functional foods, feedstuff and bath agents.

There are some differences in the properties of cleansing products. In this patent, they are categorized as an inorganic detergent or an organic detergent. Materials with high levels of unsaponifiable matter, such as extracts from plants, produce hydrolysates with unique properties. Properties that are sought in traditional saponification of natural oils are a result of low levels of unsaponifiables. These properties include high levels of aqueous surfactant activity, water-solubility or ready water-dispersability, activity as foaming agents and the like. An objective of traditional saponification processes is to increase the water-solubility and surfactant activity of naturally occurring materials.
It has been found that the application of a hydrolysis process to materials, particularly materials with a high level of unsaponifiables (e.g., at least 6% w/w), produces a product with properties significantly different from those products resulting from the conventional saponification of materials with less than 6% by weight of unsaponifiables. The resulting hydrolysates from the practice of the present invention are substantive, resisting both physical and aqueous-based removal from skin and hair, exhibit a very unique surfactant property and are not foaming agents with water. Hydrolysates according to the present invention may thus be used to enhance the performance of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. These hydrolysates can be are bioactive agents and alternative natural carrying agents for topical application of materials, particularly for application of materials to the skin or hair of subjects, and provide a substantive support for the materials carried.

A cleansing composition is disclosed that changes color during use. The cleansing composition contains a plurality of thermochromic dyes that cause a color change to occur at a threshold temperature and continue to cause a color change over a temperature range. The range of temperatures corresponds to approximately the amount of time sufficient to properly wash or scrub using the product. In general, the present disclosure is directed to an improved cleansing composition. The cleansing composition, for instance, may comprise a body wash, a facial soap, a shampoo, a baby wash, a disinfectant, a general purpose cleaner, a window cleaner, a detergent, a vehicle cleaner, pet detergent or wash or any other suitable cleaning product.
In one particular embodiment, the cleansing composition may comprise a hand soap composition. In accordance with the present disclosure, the cleansing composition contains a color changing indicator that changes color based upon changes in temperature. Specifically, during use of the cleansing composition, the composition increases in temperature due to various factors. For instance, when the cleansing composition is intended to clean part of a person's body, such as a hand soap, the temperature of the composition may increase due to contact with the user, due to friction that is caused during washing and/or due to the presence of warm water.
When the cleansing product is used to clean adjacent surfaces, on the other hand, the temperature of the composition may increase due to friction that is generated during scrubbing, due to contact with a person's hand and/or due to the presence of warm water. In accordance with the present disclosure, once the cleansing composition reaches a selected temperature, the composition can be configured to discontinue changing color indicating to the user that the user has spent sufficient time washing, wiping or scrubbing.

Psoriasis is one of the most common skin ailments among all chronic skin diseases. This disease is found in 1.4 to 2.9% of the population. The scalp is one of the favored sites for psoriasis; the latter causes essentially erythemas, desquamations, hyperkeratoses or pruritides and can also be responsible for a reduction in hair density. The treatments used to date involve salicylic acid, local steroids, anthralin, or coal or wood tar. These treatments are unpleasant, in particular when tar is applied, and require lengthy applications, in particular when hair ointments are used.
