Karl Lintner, PhD, president and founder of cosmetic consultancy Kal'Idees S.A.S., has been appointed to associate professor at the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
Lintner has taught at the Institut Supérieur International du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et de l'Aromatique alimentaire (ISIPCA), which signed a partnership with the University of Versailles in 1993.
For the next three years, he will be teaching various subjects in cosmetic chemistry for both undergraduate and master levels, including an international master class European Fragrance and Cosmetics Master (EFCM).
Lintner has a degree in chemical engineering and a doctorate in biochemistry from Vienna University (Austria). Lintner began his career at the Nuclear Research Centre in Saclay, France, where his 10 years of research on biological peptides resulted in 30 published papers in biochemistry and biophysics. In 1983, he joined Henkel as laboratory manager and was later promoted to marketing manager. In 1990, Lintner began his long career at Sederma, starting as technical director and later being promoted to managing director and technical advisor. In 2010, he formed his consultancy Kal’Idees.
Lintner has filed several dozens of patents, published numerous articles and book chapters on cosmetic ingredients and edited the book Global Regulatory Issues for the Cosmetic Industry. He sits on the board of the Société Française de Cosmétologie (SFC) and the Cosmetic Valley, where he is president of its scientific council. He was on the board for the European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients from 2006-2010 and is a member and vice-chair of the Committee of Scientific Affairs (COSA) of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists.
