Covestro will present Baycusan, its new eco line of polyurethane film formers based on renewable raw materials, at in-cosmetics Global 2018.
Setting the minimum of the carbon content coming from plant biomass at 50%, Baycusan fulfills the definition of a derived natural ingredient per the ISO 16128-1 standard and works towards the company’s commitment to achieving the UN goals for sustainable development.
The line is suitable for hair, skin and sun care, as well as color cosmetics formulations.
Additionally, Covestro will utilize the interactive “Sustainability Corner” to showcase its sustainability initiatives and specific approach for the cosmetics industry, with a focus on renewable raw materials and product end-of-life (biodegradability). Baycusan standard products reach biodegradability rates of up to 60% within 28 days under OECD 301-B test conditions.
Covestro will be located at booth E100 during in-cosmetics Global 2018, which will be held April 17-19.
