Silab’s natural anti-aging ingredient, Commusys, was honored with the Wise Ingredients Award in the Active Ingredients category at the Making Cosmetics trade show in Milan on November 20, 2024.

Unique Approach to Anti-aging: Skin Communication

Commusys (INCI: Pichia Ferment Lysate Filtrate) was recognized for its unique approach to anti-aging: it addresses communication breakdowns between the dermis and epidermis — an issue that impacts skin function during aging, the company reports. By regulating molecular interactions between these layers, Commusys reactivates vital epidermal functions, promoting hydration, smoothness and radiance.

Skin Biology Meets Biotech, Peptides

“Commusys brings together our expertise in skin biology, peptide utilization and biotechnology,” said Brigitte Closs-Gonthier, Silab’s chief executive officer and general manager of R&D, quality and communication.

Indeed, as previously reported, the ingredient incorporates biopeptides derived from the yeast Pichia stipitis, grown in Silab’s biotechnology production facility. This large-scale unit enables the research and production of innovative compounds from microorganisms like yeast, microalgae and bacteria.

Industry Recognition

The Wise Ingredients Award, presented by the Making Cosmetics event organizers, recognizes the best raw materials in cosmetics and demonstrates Commusys’s scientific innovation and Silab’s leadership in natural active ingredient development.
