Grant Industries' Granpowder BBP-700 (INCI: Saccharomyces Ferment (and) Lauroyl Lysine) has taken the Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) Beauty Creators Award in the specialty category for Suppliers: Ingredients & Formulation. This award category is sponsored by the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC). It was presented during the NYSCC Education & Awards Night Ceremony in New York City on Nov. 10, 2021, ahead of the CEW Beauty Creators Awards virtual reveal event for all winners, to be held on Dec. 1, 2021. Grant’s win had previously been announced during the NYSCC Suppliers’ Day Week of Beauty.
The award recognizes the role that ingredients, formulation and new technology plays in successful beauty and personal care product launches. As previously reported, Grant was one of eight finalist selected from more than 40 submissions by a curated panel of judges. The Granpowder BBP-700 ingredient is a fused hybrid composite of bio-fermented powder and amino acid derivative that improves the sensory characteristics of a variety of product types. For example, it imparts soft focus effects in color cosmetics and improves the greasy feel of some sun care formulas.
According to the CEW, comments from the panel of judges as to why Granpowder BBP-700 was selected include: "This is an answer to many needs that the cosmetic scientists need today to address the replacement of synthetic powders.” “BBP-700 is a great soft focus material, texturizer and can be used in all categories of makeup and skin care.” “Created with an innovative bio-fermentation process and an amino acid derivative, it is a good alternative to some microplastic powder.” Finally ,“Bio-based, biodegradable and highly functional, this powder has blown my socks off.”
