SCS Symposium to Examine Sustainability in Cosmetics

The upcoming SCS Annual Scientific Symposium, to be held April 10–11, 2011, at Wotten Under Edge in South Gloucestershire, UK, will take a closer look at sustainability in cosmetic formulating. Among the planned topics, included are: minimalist formulation techniques, green claims, "Cradle to Cradle" design; the trouble with green cosmetics and more.

The first session's keynote address will be presented by Perry Romanowski, program director for the Complete Cosmetic Chemist training program. Romanowski will discuss minimalist formulation techniques for a more sustainable cosmetic future. In addition, for those interested in making green claims, the UK's governmental Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) will present the region's newly updated green claims guidance. Further, to help market and communicate the sustainable aspects of various cosmetic products, consultants Alex Johnson and Kathryn Sheridan will share their knowledge.

According to the organizers, a limited number of bookings for overnight accommodations are available, so it is recommended that delegates book their space now. For more information, view the event program.
