The natural cosmetic market keeps growing, largely because of consumer preference toward sustainable solutions. Evonik's natural-based ingredients meet that demand.
"The trend in cosmetics is now much more towards naturalness and sustainability," commented Tammo Boinowitz, Ph.D., head of Evonik’s Personal Care Business Line, in a press release before the most recent Sepawa Congress, where the company explored that trend.

Active Innovations
Based on olives, Hairflux (INCI: Ceramide NG (and) Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil (and) Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil) is a ceramide composition that reportedly strengthens damaged hair while soothing irritated scalps. It has been approved for the Chinese market, and can be used in hair lotions; scalp-care products; and shampoos and rinses for damaged hair.
For skin brightening, Tego Enlight (INCI: Morus Alba Fruit Extract (and) Sodium Phytate (and) Water (aqua) (and) Glycerin (and) Alcohol) is meant to lighten age spots and whiten skin. Its white mulberry and phytic acid salt components add antioxidative benefits to the ingredient.
Sustainable Emulsifiers
Isolan 17 (INCI: Polyglyceryl-4 Diisostearate/Polyhydroxystearate/ Sebacate (and) Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (and) Polyglyceryl-3 Oleate (and) Diisostearoyl Polyglyceryl-3 Dimer Dilinoleate) is a versatile, plant-based emulsifier for natural w/o systems, including quick-breaking emulsions, aerosols and sprays. It leaves a nonoily skin feel and can be used to foster a range of sensory impressions.
Meanwhile, Dermofeel NC (INCI: Polygylceryl-3 Distearate (and) Glyceryl Stearate Citrate) is an emulsifier for o/w systems, this ingredient is based on renewable raw materials and functions over a wide pH range of 3.5-8.5. It is Cosmos-certified.
The ingredients were presented together at the 2018 Sepawa Congress in Berlin. There, the company also showed its Skinolance (INCI: Lactobacillus Extract Filtrate (and) Propylene Glycol (and) Water (aqua)) microbiotic ingredient, along with Rheance One (INCI: Glycolipids), a fermented glycolipid for mild cleansing.
