ROSS highlighted its custom Coaxial Mixer, designed to tackle complex formulations with precision, per the company. Its concentric-shaft configuration is said to merge two synergistic agitation technologies, enabling processors in adhesives, sealants, coatings, composites, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals to handle diverse rheologies and flow patterns.
Coaxial Mixer Specs
The system features two independently driven agitators:
- a heavy-duty two-wing anchor with a triangular cross-section and
- a pitched-blade propeller assembly.
According to the company, each is powered by a 15 HP explosion-proof motor, with the outer anchor running up to 25 rpm and the inner propellers up to 191 rpm.
The NEMA 12 control panel integrates dual 15 HP VFDs with ethernet/IP connectivity, allowing local or remote control, displays for speed, amperage and load percentage, plus emergency stop and safety disconnects.
Coaxial Mixer in Action
Engineered for a 1,100-gallon working capacity, the mixer is said to support full vacuum operation to 29.5" Hg and internal pressures up to 15 psig at 300°F. Its fixed cover includes multiple access ports and a hinged manway with safety limit switch.
Finally, temperature control is achieved through a two-zone stainless steel half-pipe jacket (ASME-stamped for 100 psig at 300°F) on sidewalls and bottom. And a 4” pneumatic flush tank ball valve ensures smooth product discharge.
