Dow’s MaizeCare Style Polymer (INCI: Hydrolyzed Corn Starch) is a bio-based polymer derived from corn starch designed to allow flexibility in hair care styling, from a stiff hold to subtle definition and textures, in wax and spray formulations.

This non-GMO ingredient is said to provide curl definition and retention, styling ease, flexible hold, frizz control, sebum/oil absorption and volume. Additionally, it can be used as a film-forming agent and to impart humidity resistance and almost no flaking.
MaizeCare Style Polymer reportedly has comparable performance to synthetic film formers with an added benefit of being non-hygroscopic. Additionally, it can be used in various forms such as powder; and in aqueous dispersions, it forms a natural film.
