IFF is launching three new fragrance ingredients—Ylanganate, a scent molecule featuring solar white floral notes, and grapefruit and Persian lime oils from naturals specialist LMR—at the 2024 World Perfumery Congress, which runs from June 24-27 at Palexpo in Geneva. Registration remains open.
Ylanganate: a Floral Booster
At booth 436, IFF and LMR Naturals will feature its Ylanganate molecule, which features solar white floral notes.
In formulations, the ingredient boosts delicate floral scents with its "gentle complexity and calm sensuality," per IFF, which can enhance fruity, sweet and vanillic-balsamic notes.
The technology also lends a naturality to even synthetic fragrance formulas in finished perfumes and personal care, as well as home and fabric care.
Ylanganate is readily biodegradable, presents no discoloration issues and can be applied at dosage levels below 0.5%.
“The new Ylanganate molecule is a multifaceted ingredient with many sides to discover,” said Ricardo Moya, senior perfumer at IFF. “Alongside primary white floral and citrus notes, its red and stone fruits, wintergreen, balsams and spices notes contribute to a more authentic foundation across all scent categories. It excels in many point-of-purchase scenarios, performing extremely well in home and fabric care applications with outstanding fragrance intensity (bloom effect) on damp fabric and lasting burn in air care. It is also highly compatible with technologies such as fabric care delivery systems.”
Mindfully Created Pure Grapefruit and Lime Oils
The Grapefruit Oil CP Pink Mexico FCR LMR and Lime Oil CP Persian Mexico FCR LMR from naturals specialist LMR are derived via cold-press extraction from high- quality fruit peels.
LMR has produced the oils by managing supply chain partnerships with reliable producers to ensure quality, safety and sustainability of its ingredients.
“IFF has a long history of creating some of the world’s most captivating fragrance ingredients,” said Ana Paula Mendonça, president, scent, IFF. “Ylanganate, grapefruit and Persian lime oils exemplify mindful fragrance design that brings together the best of nature and cutting-edge science. Furthermore, with nature and its sensory wonders as its palette, IFF has developed an environmentally responsible booth to introduce these new ingredients to the fragrance world through a memorable and unique experience.”
“We’re immensely proud of the latest additions to our Pure Premium Citrus range,” said Juliette Karagueuzoglou, VP perfumer, IFF. “In a segment where bergamot and lemon tend to take center stage, our new grapefruit and lime oils offer brands refreshing alternatives, with the same commitment to quality and transparency they expect from LMR. In terms of their olfactive signature, both oils exude brightness and zest. The lime oil delivers sparkling tangy notes and a hint of sweetness while the grapefruit oil packs a punch of bitter fruitiness complemented by aldehyde nuances.”
IFF's Experiential, Sustainable World Perfumery Congress Booth
IFF’s booth at the World Perfumery Congress will highlight its latest ingredients and feature a “Scent, Sound and Visual” cabin, leveraging IFF’s partnership with Ircam Amplify and its "Science of Wellness" program, and an interactive installation named the "Tree of Emotion."
The booth will be constructed using recycled and upcycled materials, per IFF, in addition to others that are recyclable after use, including cardboard and PEHD (high density polyethylene) plastics.
