Innova reports that the leading category for astaxanthin — an ingredient in pharmaceuticals  product launches in the last five years is skin health (followed by eye health and brain health). Studies suggest that natural astaxanthin can promote healthy skin aging, according to Solabia Algatech Nutrition. It reduces oxidative stress, fine lines, wrinkles and water loss, and improves skin appearance, elasticity and provides UV protection.

Solabia Algatech grows and processes its own AstaPure astaxanthin, which offers benefits in skin care and for bodily organs such as the eyes, as well as the immune system. It is cultivated and processed using minimal carbon footprint and has a strong antioxidant effect, according to the company.

Omer Grundman, VP of R&D, Solabia Algatech, commented: “Today’s consumers understand there is a clear link between skin health and what we eat and drink. Astaxanthin, derived from the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis, provides nutritional and protective benefits to the skin. Dozens of clinical studies have demonstrated astaxanthin’s ability to revitalize the skin from both within and topically."

Liat Shemesh, marketing manager, Solabia Algatech, S.A., commented: “AstaPure has become an important, highly sought-after beauty-from-within ingredient in the past few years with sales forecast to increase dramatically in this category in 2024."
