Clean Food Group's Fermented Clean Oil 25 Secures Cosmetics Approval

Developed with THG LABS and Croda, Clean Food Group's fermented Clean Oil 25 has secured cosmetics approval in the UK, Europe and the United States. This sustainable alternative to traditional oils is applicable to skin and hair care.

Clean Food Group is a leading UK food tech business, manufacturing sustainable oils and fats through fermentation. According to the company, the approval marks a major milestone in the commercialization of CFG's proprietary Clean OilCell technology platform. 

UK Collaborative Innovation

The approval was announced at the BBIA UK BioFinance Summit 2025. Speaking on a panel, professor Chris Chuck, technical lead of CFG, said: "The announcement of our cosmetics approval is a brilliant example of the pioneering biotech innovation being driven in the UK today, and the importance of collaborative innovation and partnerships across supply chains and manufacturing to bridge biotech innovation to commercial scale and success."

The approval process was supported by safety and regulatory consulting firm Delphic HSE, ensuring Clean Oil 25 meets the rigorous compliance standards required for cosmetic applications.
